PARTIAL REOPENING

From Monday 23rd March, schools across the country were closed to the majority of pupils. From Monday 1st June, Burfield Academy reopened to Year 1, and from Monday 15th June, we reopened to Reception.

Burfield Academy is also open to the children of critical workers and vulnerable children. All families of vulnerable learners have been contacted directly and the link here offers guidance on the definition of critical workers.

TIMINGS FOR THE SCHOOL DAY

We have introduced a series of carefully staggered drop off and pick up times which will allow all adults and children to socially distance. We have also allowed a ten-minute window for both drop off and pick up times so that we can ensure social distancing rules can be adhered to at all times. Entry and exit points to the classrooms have been separated out for different groups of children, which will be kept consistent as far as possible.

HOME LEARNING

Home learning tasks for Nursery and children in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 are uploaded fortnightly. Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 also receive weekly teacher-led instructional videos. These cover some key objectives in maths and English and contain explanations, modelled examples and regular opportunities for the children to practice.

Year 1 and Reception home learning tasks are uploaded weekly, reflecting the tasks taking place in class. You can find the home learning tasks here.
